Blueberry picking

Love this time of year! We tried a new blueberry farm today that is supposed to be certified organic next year (but already practicing). It's in High Springs, about a 40-minute drive from our house. It is near Poe Springs and Blue Springs, if you wanted to make a day of going to a spring and picking blueberries. That is what I wish we had thought of sooner. Live and learn, or live and increase your multi-tasking. Anyway, they are $3.50 a pound. We went at the very end of Saturday, and there were still plenty of blueberries. And I must say that the staff (maybe also the family/house residents) were so great! They encouraged you to eat while you pick and were super friendly.

Here is the info on the farm from this site:

Chik-fil-A Meal Deal, 5-19-10

Chik-fil-A has family night every Tuesday. You get a free kiddie meal with every adult purchase, and they get to do a cool craft to take home with them.

We did that tonight (as the husband is out of town, and we are trying to make everything as easy as possible). And while there they told us a special they are having tomorrow (and which they weren't sure if they would repeat in the future). Everything you have on your receipt tomorrow, they will match one day next week for free. So if you buy three meals, you get three free next week. I wonder if you can combine this with Family Night? Seems like a good deal, and I hope they do it again.

P.S. The store in Gainesville has the best customer service ever!

Free Splash Park

If you live in Gainesville, you have to check out the free splash park in Alachua. It's perfect for the little ones who can't swim. They have the joy of splashing around in water without the risk involved with pools. Which risk is magnified for me as I will be trying to take four kids to the pool this summer. Two average swimmers and two fearless non-swimmers. It's open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and it's at the Alachua Rec Center. If you want to go one day, call me!
