Free Blockbuster Express Movie Code

Use the code KIOSK at Blockbuster Express (found in Publix stores in Gainesville) to get a free movie. I like this code because it's easy to remember. It can only be used once. No need to try for a second round with this code because I already did that for ya. It's a no go.

Free Chik-fil-A calendar (w/ coupons) w/ $20 gift card

Go here to see the details for this Chik-fil-A special. Purchase a $20 gift card and receive this free calendar with coupons for free products each month.

Every Tuesday Chik-fil-A has family night, where you can receive one free kid's meal with an adult meal purchase. And I just figured out not long ago that this includes the larger kid's meal, which my two kids can split if I throw in some fries from my meal and make sure to trade in the usually-cruddy Chik-fil-A toy for ice cream. And they will do the same deal at the mall, even though they aren't advertising it. Always ask for free food on Tuesdays!

Definitely worth buying the gift card if you are going to Chik-fil-A this year. Use your gift card to buy food and get all of the free stuff in the calendar!

50 free photo cards

The deal is you go here and use the code freebies4mom-1109 (sorry, dads) before Nov. 30th and get 50 4x8 or 5x7 photo cards. Perfect for Christmas! Oh and did I mention the free shipping! I guess Fuji is trying to get new people on their site.Well, they got me. And if you sign up for a new account, you can use the code prints and get 100 free prints. I believe it has to be a separate transaction though. Still cool.

Update: Redeemed the offer tonight. Everything went through fine. Only complaint is that you can't preview a sharp image. Everything looks fuzzy. I'm assuming that it won't print like that.

UF's last Family Fun Fishing Day of the year is Nov. 14th.

From the site:

We would love for all of you to come out for a morning of fishing! The Family Fishing Day is free, open to the public, and catch-and-release. The fishing will start at 8 a.m. and end at 12 p.m. There are seven stocked ponds with channel catfish, bluegill, and largemouth bass. We will have loaner poles and bait (hotdogs, cut liver, and bacon) available, but everyone is welcome to bring their own equipment and bait. Please leave your pets at home.

As this is our last event of 2009, we will be giving out grab-bags of goodies to all the kids. We will also have our casting challenge where all participants win a prize.

In an effort to support our program, we are collecting aluminum cans. If you could save your aluminum cans for us we would greatly appreciate it!

I also heart Publix

Today I made a trip to Publix with lots of printed coupons and deals that I found on I spent $8 and saved $37, and I was able to complete the trip in 15 minutes because I knew the exact items I was going to get. So this was a deals-only trip, meaning I didn't shop for anything except the bargain stuff (because it was expiring tomorrow). Ok, so I did buy some bananas, but I can never pass by those without picking them up. It's one of our staples.
So here's what I got for eight dollars:
4 packs of Pillsbury break-and-bake cookies (in the refrigerated section)
6 boxes of Mueller's whole wheat pasta
2 bags of Fresh Express salad
1 3-1b. bag of apples
2 bars of white chocolate baking squares (6 oz. each)
1 container of All HE detergent (for 40 loads)
2.4 lbs. of bananas
I used 19 coupons. Woohoo! I'm so excited.

Thanks, Celeste, for this tip:

Here is a link for a free Living Scriptures DVD pack…it includes 2 DVDs, a FHE packet and Book of Mormon Magnets—plus free shipping!. It took about 3 weeks, but I got mine today. My kids love these DVDs, but they usually cost about 30 bucks each…so this is a great deal.

I'm going to use mine as a stocking stuffer!

They also still have the deal where two kids eat free when one adult spends $6. So two adults could eat with two kids for $7. I think I know where I'm eating tomorrow night.

Papa John's best pizza deal

If you are looking for a decent price on pizza, try ordering Papa John's online. If you go to Menu and Specials, check out the Buy Any Large Two Topping or More and Get a Large Cheese for $.25. We always get one of the specialty pizzas, and the total comes to $14.13. It should be even cheaper if you get something with only two toppings. This feeds our family with leftovers for lunches the next day. Yum! It's perfect for those nights that I just can't get it together. Or I just want pizza!

Free Hotel Room for 8 Service Hours

So if you do eight hours of community service (and provide proof from the organization), you can get a free hotel room for a night. Go here for details. Just sounds like a cool thing to do together as a family. I wonder if you have four people in your family if you only have to work two hours because they count total man hours. Just wondering.
Here's some more info:
Some 50 hotels across the country are giving away a free night to guests who can prove that they completed at least eight hours of community service between July 1 and Dec. 20.

To qualify, you must provide a letter on the nonprofit organization's letterhead proving that you've completed the volunteer work at a 501c3 organization such as Meals on Wheels or Habitat for Humanity or Animal Shelter

The hotels, all managed by Sage Hospitality, include The Nines in Portland, Ore., The Blackstone in Chicago and the Sheraton Tucson Hotel and Suites in Arizona.

The room must be reserved at least 48 hours before arrival. Guests must pay taxes for the room. Blackout dates apply and there are a limited number of rooms available at each hotel.

Boston Market, Buy 1 Adult Meal, Get 2 Free Kid Meals

For those of us who have many little people to feed, this feeds three people for $6 (or in my case five for $6). Which I consider awesome when I'm tired and hungry and in the vicinity of Boston Market. And they even have vegetables that taste good to kids. And me. So I'm totally going. See the details here. Most important is no coupon required. And they want to see your kids. So no sneaking two kid meals back to your husband (wink, wink). And it ends on Halloween.

Target 75% off Swim Gear

While returning some items today, I noticed that they were marking down swim gear to 75% off. I picked up a couple of mega floats for the twins and a backyard pool with a slide and waterfall for about $20. The pool is going to be one of Enoch's b-day presents next year. Just in time for swimming to get started.

You just have to see this

Does it make me a bad person that I find this amusing? OK, so not the broken chicken legs and scalding to death. Maybe it's the suggestion that we wear the evil Ronald mask to school. Something about it just had me laughing silently. Maybe they should send out Evil Lisa masks next.
Oh, and it's FREE!

Free Starry Night at the Museum

Florida Museum of Natural History is having a Starry Night this Friday, Sept. 25th, from 5 to 10 p.m.

This is what their website says about the event:

See the night sky closer than ever before. Join the Florida Museum of Natural History, the UF Astronomy Department, the Alachua Astronomy Club, and the Florida Space Grant Consortium for an inside look at the universe beyond! Build a telescope, see a portable planetarium show, or view a moonscape in 3-D!

Join astronaut, Captain Winston Scott, for an inside look at what it takes to visit space!

Bring the whole family for a fun-filled night of astronomical proportions!

The best part is, it's FREE. Of course.

Also, I want to share a personal museum experience we had this week. We went to Orlando to visit with friends, but we needed a quick activity to do while we waited to meet up. Of course the parks are astronomically (I'm on a space kick) priced, and even going to the Orlando Science Center was going to cost $60 for our whole family. So we joined our local (see above) science museum to go to all of their temporary exhibits for free and go to the Butterfly Rainforest free (we did the membership plus). Then, whenever we travel anywhere, we can look up the museum network and visit a new museum. So we got in the Orlando Science Center for "free." Which I won't actually count any of it as free until we have used the passes enough to surpass our membership fee. So I'll give you updates later. But I am pretty excited about the future educational fun we'll be having. But the point is that in the end we will have a year of fun for less than it would have cost to go to one of Orlando's many giant money traps (which are super fun, but also super pricey). It's hard having a big family and still wanting to have fun (outside of the living room)!

Jamba Juice-Buy One Get 16 oz. for $1

Jamba Juice broke my heart when they took over Zuka juice back in my BYU days, but I soon came to realize that all fruit mixed in a blender with sugar is delicious. So I loved them in time. Sadly we don't have a Jamba nearby.
Use the store locator to see if you do.
And then print this coupon to buy one and get a 16 oz. one for $1.

Free Mrs. Fields Cookie on 10/1/09

National Cookie Month brings you a free cookie. Just show up at Mrs. Fields between 11 am and 1 pm on Thursday October 1st. Check here for your nearest store. If you live in Gainesville, it's in the mall! You can get your free cookie and free Picture People pics and your free teeny bopper socks/headbands from Sears all in the same day. It's leaving me breathless just imagining the freebiness of it all.

So if you knew this and didn't tell me, I am unofficially mad at you.
Publix takes all competitors coupons. So this means that if a store like CVS gives you a $5 off $25, you can redeem it at Publix. I am freaking out over all of the missed opportunities for savings.:) OK, so I'm really OK (after several hours of discount therapy), but this is huge! I always thought those coupons were junky because I hardly ever spend that much at CVS. Sigh.
If you know any other coupon tricks, post them in the comments below! Fast so I don't hyperventilate over more missed savings.

TCBY Wednesdays $.99 Waffle Cones

This is ongoing, but we took advantage of it today so thought I'd remind you guys. From 5-8 p.m. on Wednesdays, TCBY (in Millhopper -- mayber others, but I'm only sure about this location) has $.99 waffle cones. You can choose either the soft serve from the machine or the scoops.
The waffle cones aren't as big as I remember them being back in the 90s. Maybe my face was just smaller then. It's a fun treat for the kids without bringing home a bunch of sweets (which will inevitably be eaten by me in a fit of nursing hunger at about 1 am).

$10 of $10 Sears Juniors Apparel

$10 off of $10 coupon for Sears
So maybe this is a stretch for me (pun intended), but I am hoping to find $10 worth of something in the juniors' dept. at Sears. Maybe it's just a headband or some socks, and maybe it will have Hannah Montana or the Jonas Bros. on it. But dang it, I will redeem this coupon.

Free Portrait Package at Picture People

I love this sale! Go to Picture People with this coupon. You will have the photo session, and afterwards, you'll get a free 8x10, 2 5x7s, and 8 wallets of one pose of your choosing. Free Cold Stone Ice Cream, Sept. 24th

Free 3 oz. Make-A-Wish-Creation at Cold Stone Creamery.

Thursday, Sept. 24th from 5-8.

We went last year and got a sweet hook-up. We went at the end of the night. Some other friends of ours went, and got a bit shortchanged. So maybe the later you go, the better. This is purely a guess, and mostly because we are usually late anyway. So this advice fits our MO.

Here’s what their microprint says:

Donate and receive a 3 oz. sample of Jack’s Creation served out of a ready-to-love pan in a Like It™ Cup. Valid only during published date and time. While supplies last. No substitutions. Limit one per customer. An estimated 85 percent of all donations in September will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation®

Target School Supplies Clearance

Has anyone been to Target lately and seen whether or not school supplies are on clearance? Just wanted to get some stuff for next year (backpacks and lunch boxes). If you know of any places that have this stuff on sale, let me know!

Update: I drove to Target tonight (8-31) and still no clearance on school supplies. Then I found this from a self-proclaimed Target expert internet man.
"Target clearance follows a strict schedule depending on when school starts in different states. Usually the pattern goes as following: 1st week school starts 15-30% off depending on the amount left and location, 2nd week 30-50%, 3rd week 50-75% and they usually have to be gone within a month. Most stores sell out in the 50% week and some make it to 75%. Our stores in Central Florida make it to the 75% week and we stock up!! Continually check up every 3-5 days or so and you can save a lot of money on school supplies!"
Wrong, wrong, internet man. I thought I could put my trust in you, but alas. So we are in week 2 of school and nada. So much for the "strict schedule." But I won't be sad when I am forced to return to Target to recheck the school stuff and stop by every end cap in the store. They are like magnets.

Free Almond Tin

So you may be thinking what I'm thinking, "Is it worth my time for a tiny almond tin?" And yes, that's all you get. No almonds. Boo! You have to fill out a survey to get your free tin. In the end, I figured we could use the tiny tin for packing lunches, so I filled out the survey and should be getting my nutless tin in 6-8 weeks.

Free Shutterfly 8x8 Photo Book

Expires August 26th. Make a free 8.8 hard cover photo book (regularly $29.99). Coupon code at check out is SUMMERBOOK. I make one of these every birthday for my kids, and they LOVE them. It takes me forever to make them (even though it's supposed to be fast). So I'll be ordering mine around 11:59 p.m. on the 26th. You still have to pay shipping, which is around 8 bucks. Still a good price for an awesome custom book.

Tip I heard on Oprah: scan in your child's artwork and include it in the book. Cuts down on old scrappy papers around the house. Since we've started scanning in artwork, my daughter doesn't get those moments of depressing shock when she finds her masterpieces in the recycle bin. It took me a couple times of explaining and showing her the artwork on the laptop, but now, she'll even take her own artwork to the trash can.

$10 off $10 or more at Things Remembered

I redeemed this coupon a few weeks ago at the Oaks Mall. You can purchase any item in the store, and they have a clearance rack (yay!). I bought a heart shaped box (left over from Valentine's Day, but luckily hearts work for little girls all year) for Bella for her birthday. You don't have to have the items you purchase engraved. You have to purchase over $10, so we added two items together to reach our ten bucks. We ended up spending about two dollars.

25 Free Prints from Walgreens

Sign up for a new account at Walgreens and get 25 free prints. I love using these free prints to do stuff like print pictures for the church bulletin boards, and right now, I'm working on filling in some pre-made scrap books for the twins. Phew, it's hard to insert pictures into books that already did all of the creative work for you. But somehow we manage.

Pardon the interruption

I have not been posting for quite some time because of the latest double addition to our family. I couldn't even look at coupons (gasp) for a long time because the pictures of food or reminders of food made me want to vomit. And at times did make me vomit.
So we are back to finding great deals. My goal is to post great deals in my community and online. These will be things that I actually use for my family, so I think it might be interesting to you as well. Let me know if I miss something big, and I will add it! The more cheap/free stuff the better...and merrier.
